VIPSites Media

What is psychosocial disability support?

Psychosocial disability support is designed to help individuals who experience challenges with mental health, emotional wellbeing, or social connection. This support aims to reduce the impact of conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges on daily life. Through personalised guidance, skill-building, and encouragement, psychosocial disability support empowers people to build confidence, develop coping strategies, and participate more fully in their community, relationships, and personal goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Visit our FAQ section for answers to common queries about our services, supports, and how to get started with X Factor Abilities.

Psychosocial recovery coaching is personalised support to help you build skills and confidence for everyday life, especially when you’re living with mental health challenges. At X Factor Abilities, I work alongside you to set goals and develop practical strategies for greater independence—whether that’s with daily routines, getting involved in your community, or working towards employment. It’s not therapy; it’s hands-on, practical coaching to help you move forward and achieve what matters to you.

How is this different from other mental health services?

Unlike clinical services, psychosocial recovery coaching focuses on building your capacity for day-to-day living. With both lived experience and professional expertise, I understand the unique hurdles you might face. Together, we’ll work on real-world skills like time management, social connections, and employment readiness, all tailored to your NDIS goals.

What happens in a typical session?

Sessions are flexible and based on your needs. We might work on daily living skills, practise social scenarios, build confidence for community activities, or prepare for job opportunities. Sessions can be held at your home, in the community, or online—whatever suits you best.

What is SLES and who can access it?

SLES stands for School Leaver Employment Supports. It’s an NDIS program for young people (usually aged 18–25) who are moving from school into the workforce. If you have an NDIS plan and want to get job-ready, you might be eligible. SLES provides up to two years of tailored support to help you build job skills, find work, and settle into employment.

What sort of employment support do you offer?

Support includes help with resumes, interview practice, building workplace communication skills, and job searching. We’ll also work on building your confidence and navigating any challenges that pop up in the workplace. Ongoing support is available even after you start work, to help you settle in and thrive.

Can you help me if I’ve never worked before?

Absolutely! Many clients are just starting out. We’ll begin at your pace—exploring your interests, building foundational skills, and preparing you for your first job. With my own lived experience of disability, I understand the barriers you might face and can help you overcome them.

How do craft workshops support recovery?

Creative activities are a great way to boost confidence, reduce stress, and build resilience. Our workshops are designed to encourage self-expression, social connection, and new skills. Many people find that completing creative projects gives them the confidence to tackle other challenges in life.

Do I need to be artistic to join in?

Not at all! Our workshops are for everyone, regardless of experience. The focus is on enjoying the process and the wellbeing benefits, not on being perfect or producing a masterpiece.

What types of workshops are available?

Workshops vary depending on what participants are interested in, but may include painting, craft projects, pottery, and more. Each session is designed to be relaxing, fun, and supportive of your recovery goals.

NDIS and Tap & Pay on the Day Payment Options

How does NDIS funding work for your services?

If you have NDIS funding for psychosocial recovery coaching or employment supports, you can use it to access our services. I’ll help you understand your plan and make sure you’re getting the right support for your goals.

I am on the NDIS, how are payments made?

If you are Plan Managed, we will invoice your Plan Manager who will process the payment so long as it aligns with your NDIS goals. If you are Self Managed, you will be invoiced in which case you will submit the invoice to the NDIS portal as you would for other claims you make.

What if I’m not sure if I’m eligible for the NDIS?

I can provide general information about NDIS eligibility and the application process. If you already have a plan, I’ll work with you to make sure our services fit your funding and support needs.

What other payment methods are there for people who are not eligible for the NDIS?

  • Concession Pricing:

  • Pension card holders are eligible for a discounted rate—please let us know at the time of booking.

We have Tap and Pay on the Day option through secure EFTPOS.

Discounts have been applied keeping in mind those who seek such supports and community engagement and participation at $75 a workshop.

Why do some people pay after, and others before?

NDIS guidelines require us to invoice after service delivery for funded participants. For non-NDIS clients, upfront payment helps us keep our workshops running smoothly and ensures your spot is secured.

We are actively working to partner with additional funding bodies and agencies to make our services even more accessible for those not currently covered by the NDIS.

NDIS funding covers most services, but I understand everyone’s circumstances are different. If you have any questions after reviewing these FAQs, please give me a call on 0494 318 254 to chat about your situation or submit inquiry through our Contact Us page and we will contact you.
